Your Web Affiliate Program – Creating Website Content That Sells
Having a successful online business is a highly coveted niche for millions of people. A good percentage of people, when asked whether they would prefer to make an online income from home or continue working for someone else, would probably choose to be their own boss. Millions have tried and millions have failed. Although owning a successful home based business or web affiliate program is completely possible, it takes a lot of hard work, dedication and persistence.
One of the essentials, if you are to even get off the ground, is having a website from which to promote your home based business or web affiliate program. Marketing your web-based business through having your own website is like putting gas in your car. Your car won’t run without gas and your web based business will be permanently stalled until you provide the basic fuel to get it started.
A lot of web affiliate programs offer a website for you to promote your online business. Hopefully that website is customizable using something like the popular WordPress platform. Your website is the face of your home based business and the content displayed on your website is going to make a difference whether a person clicks through and signs up for your web affiliate program or not. To make an online income through your home based business, you must employ good selling techniques in your website content.
There is no shortage of web affiliate programs and home based business opportunities but, in order to gain the interest of your visitor, your website must stand out amongst the others. Here are a few tips regarding the website content you use to promote your online business.
Website content should not be solely feature based.
Make sure the benefits of your web affiliate program are prominent. A good percentage of web affiliate programs drone on forever about how much money you can make quickly, how easy the system is to use, how it’s “guaranteed” to work, etc., and never get to the point of how the product actually is of benefit to anyone. Your web affiliate program might have great features but it is important that you tie those features in such that they create an obvious benefit for your visitor.
If you have a web affiliate program that you are promoting on your website, either outline the benefits first and the features later or artfully weave the features into the benefits. No one wants to join a web affiliate program if they cannot attribute value to the products they are going to be offering. Your goal is to get your visitor to take action.
To evaluate whether your website content speaks to the benefit of your visitors, put yourself in their place. Ask yourself what this particular web affiliate program will do for you and why you should participate in it. Your visitors want to know what’s in it for them. This is, first and foremost, what will move your visitors to click through to take advantage of your web affiliate program or home based business offer. Appeal to the emotions of your website visitors.
Easy on the Eyes
When writing website content, begin each paragraph with a bang. Use words that will grab your visitors’ attention and want to read more. Make sure to keep each paragraph concise and too the point. Nothing will turn off a reader more than a paragraph that is overly long. Make your website easy to read by using bullet points and an appropriate font size.
Keep your Visitor Focused
Don’t make the mistake of using website content that is primarily concerned with the needs of your web affiliate program or home based business. Sure, your main interest, the very reason you have the website, is to create an online income and be successful. But what does that have to do with your visitor? Make sure all of your website content has your visitors’ needs in mind. Always put your audience first and leave YOU out of it.
Website Layout – simple dos and don’ts
Avoid huge graphics and logos at the top of the page. When visitors land on your website the first thing they should be reading is your marketing message to them. Don’t require your visitors to scroll down the page to find what it is being offered. Make sure your visitors can find what they want quickly and seamlessly. Include two forms of navigation so visitors can easily find what they are looking for.Use fresh, compelling graphics. I cannot tell you how many websites I have looked at that offer a web affiliate program but uses stock photos that I have seen hundreds of times before. If you are going to use graphics on your website, do not use images that are obviously generic (a beautiful, grinning woman with a handful of money) or stock photos that have been around forever. Take your own photos or hire someone to do it.Give Your Website Personality. Everyone wants their web affiliate program or home based business to stand out from all of the zillions of others that are online. One way to do this is to give your website “personality” through creating content that is reader-friendly, fresh, and written not only to educate but also to entertain. Bring your website content to life by bringing your unique personality into it. It will take your visitor 5 seconds or less to gain interest. If they find you have the same, stale message as every other online business owner out there, they are gone forever.Call to Action. Make sure your website has a definite call to action. Give your visitor something concrete to do. Don’t expect your visitor to read paragraph after paragraph or page after page before there is a clear way for them to take action.Use a simple, concise writing style. You don’t have long to capture the attention of your visitor. Keep your writing simple and concise. Your paragraphs should be focused and fairly short. Always write in a style that your public can relate to. Leave abbreviations and industry related jargon out of it.Consider hiring a professional copywriter. If you have the resources, you might consider this option – especially if do not have sufficient skills to promote your web affiliate business effectively by writing the content yourself. Whatever the case, remember that your website is your primary marketing tool and, in order to successfully market your web affiliate business or home based business, all of the website content should reflect this.
My name is Roxanne Perry and I own an Internet business. I’ve been interested in Internet marketing for a long time but hadn’t the first idea how to do this successfully until I found Internet Income University. I received an excellent education there. I was also given a great website, some fantastic products and a lot of support and encouragement. As a result, I was able to “fire my boss” (just love that phrase) and begin making money through my own business.
